Minister for Education: It has been decided that Junior Cert and Leaving Cert exams will take place this year

The Minister for Education Norma Foley has said that this year’s Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle will be held as exams only without any bumper grades like those that were awarded last year.

According to RTE, it is understood that a commitment has been given that the grades received by students this year will be no lower than those of last year.

This news will put the minds of students at rest as there had been serious concerns that they would have to compete against last year’s students for college places and this would put them at a disadvantage compared to those who did the exams last year.

Ms. Foley also said that students would be given greater choice in their exams this year and the Junior Cycle exams will take place against this year for the first time since 2019.
