The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe has said that the health spend during the Covid-19 outbreak will cost up to €2bn.
Speaking to fellow cabinet members Donohoe said the outbreak will hit public finances hard.
The Finance Minister also said that expenditure which includes payments for the unemployed will exceed the €2.4bn the Government had originally allocated.
He did however say that the State will be able to cover the increased deficit.
