The Minister for Health Simon Harris has revealed that condoms will be made free of charge at Third level institutions this coming September.
In a move that is part Government’s programme to promote sexual health, all third level institutions will have dispenser machines fitted in order to make contraceptives easily available to students.
The programme will also see the introduction of Pre- Exposure Prophylaxis medicine programme, which will work to prevent HIV.
Speaking about the launch of the programme Minister Harris said the new measures are being introduced as part of initiative that will work to promote sexual health and reduce the number of crisis pregnancies.
