There’s been a very mixed reaction to St Cronan’s National school in Bray, Co. Wicklow announcing that it’s to ban all smartphones from students starting in the new school year.
It’s understood that the drastic measure comes following a vote from parents over the summer.
91% parents voted in favour of the ban, which will see all smartphone technology banned on school ground’s during school hours.
Basic mobile phones which are used for calls and texts will still be allowed in the school.
Although all basic phones must be switched off during class.
We reopen tomorrow, 29th Aug at 8.40am. Please also note that smartphones are no longer permitted in St. Cronan’s following a survey in June where 91.2% of parents voted for a ban on smartphones. Basic mobile phones are allowed but must be switched off at all times in school.
