There’s been mixed reactions to announcements that a large number of migrants will be moving to County Tipperary over the coming weeks.

Some say that they should be welcomed while others say that the 10,300 homeless Irish people who are sleeping on park benches, doorways, streets and hotel rooms around the country should be given priority and houses before any migrants.

45 families are to be relocated in Co Tipperary as part of a national program in which migrant families are integrated into many local communities.

As part of a resettlement program in Clonmel, Nenagh, Tipperary and Templemore, Tipperary will take in 45 Syrian families, as Tipperary Live report will “benefit from an influx of migrants in the coming weeks.”

The news was communicated to the members of the local authority at a meeting of the Sinead Carr District Council, the director of the housing department. He said the 45 families will be resettled as part of a national program in Tipperary families that are integrated into many local communities.

It’s understood that the news was communicated to members of the local authority at a meeting of the County Council by Sinead Carr, the Director of Services with responsibility for housing. Ms Carr said that the 45 families will be re-settled in Tipperary as “part of a national programme” which will see families living with many local communities.
