Money sinking down the drain: Irish Water spends hundreds of thousands of euro in futile attempt to wash away bad public image

It has emerged this morning that the wretched utility has wasted €316,000 in a sisyphean attempt to dispel its dismal public image. The money was sucked by several Dublin-based PR firms that did work for Irish Water, despite the fact that the company itself employs three people, full time, dedicated to press and corporate image affairs.

However, sources for Irish Water claimed that such wastage of money was justified in light of the ‘unprecedented’ attention garnered by the bungling utility.

A spokesperson said “Irish Water has featured more than 72,602 times across print, broadcast and online media articles up to the end of 2015.
“The scale of the response required from this company to deal with this media attention has been significant and has directly contributed to a need to source additional professional communications support to deal with these queries and to assist in the proactive planning of specific media campaigns.”
