More and more calls for white collar boxing to be banned following young man dying last week

There have been many calls on social media for white collar boxing to be completely banned following the death of a student last week in England who took a blow while competing.

The man died after being seriously injured during a charity white-collar boxing match.

He took part in an ultra white collar boxing event at the Harvey Hayden Sports Village in Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire Police said his condition worsened following the accident and confirmed he was dead.

Detective Inspector Chris Berryman said the man was “left seriously injured following a boxing match and transported to Queen’s Medical Centre Our thoughts are with all of his family and friends at this difficult time,” he said, reports Sky News.

According to its website, Ultra White Collar Boxing has been organizing events for 14 years and has staged hundreds of events.

The website lists a summary of guidelines and says: “To ensure the safety of all of our participants, we make sure that we strictly adhere to our rules and regulations,” reports Sky News.
