In Dublin’s Grand Canal, where tents have not yet been set up, barriers have been installed, reports RTE.
It occurs as barricades were erected in an attempt to stop other tents from being set up along other sections of the canal and on Mount Street after the tents of unaccommodated asylum seekers were removed.
Nevertheless, a second overnight camp consisting of thirty tents was established farther down the Grand Canal.
Along a section of the canal banks between the McCartney Bridge and the Leeson Street Bridge, there were 26 tents, reports RTE.
Moving away from the river and along the canal, there were at least four additional tents.
An effort involving many agencies resulted in the removal of over 100 tents along the Grand Canal yesterday.
These asylum seekers were moved to different housing, such as the old Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum, and Crooksling, reports RTE.
Less than 400 yards separate the Grand Canal tent pitching location from the International Protection Office (IPO) on Mount Street, where hundreds of tents were taken down the week before.
It is believed that as of last night, 168 individuals have been relocated from the Grand Canal region between the Huband Bridge and Mount Street Bridge, reports RTE.
