Murder investigation in Paris after man’s body found 30 years after his death

French police are investigating the murder of a man whose body was discovered in a Paris mansion 30 years after his death.

The Mirror reports that the body of Jean-Pierre Renaud was discovered in the cellar of the 33 million euro mansion during its recent restoration. According to Le Monde, Renaud was an alcoholic vagrant who was identified by papers found on his corpse.

His body had signs of broken bones and stab wounds, though police are unlikely to catch the killer three decades after the murder.

The expensive property has been unoccupied since the 1980s, though has recently been purchased by a wealthy investment banker with the plan to convert it into a corporate office.

It is situated in the Faubourg Saint-Germain neighbourhood of the city, one of the most exclusive areas of Paris close to the President’s official residence.
