Gardaí in Waterford have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 27 year old man over the weekend.
It is understood the investigation comes after the man who was the victim of a serious assault on John Street in the City on Saturday the 7th of July, sadly passed away in Cork University Hospital last Friday.
Gardaí say the victim passed away due to the extent of head injuries he sustained during the attack.
