Muslim woman in UK pleads guilty to plot to bomb St. Paul’s cathedral

A Muslim woman in the UK has pleaded guilty to plotting a bomb attack on St. Paul’s Cathedral in London as well as a hotel in the city.

Islamic State supporter, Safiyya Amira Shaikh (36), from Hayes, Middlesex, pled guilty at the Old Bailey this week to plotting to carry out terrorist attacks on behalf of the Jihadist organisation as well as dissemination of terrorist publications.

Shaikh had made serious plans to carry out the attack having reconnoitred St. Paul’s cathedral and other historic sites around London as potential targets.

The would-be bomber also contacted a person who would be capable of making explosives and shared terrorist documents via groups using the Telegram messaging app over the same period.

Mr Justice Sweeney at the Old Bailey. Mr Justice Sweeney ordered pre-sentence reports ahead of sentencing on 12 May while Shaikh’s defence team were given until April 3rd to serve any psychiatric reports to the court.
