National Heritage Week will kick off today nationwide.
The week, which runs from the 22nd to the 30th of August 2015, will feature over 1,800 events, the majority of which are free of charge.
Over 400,000 people are expected to take part in the weeks events, which are aimed at promoting awareness of Ireland’s natural and cultural history and to encourage conservation and preservation.
Some of the events set to take place are; an archaeological dig in Swords, high nelly bicycle tours of Laois and linen making workshops in Monaghan.
