National Transport Authority says that underground metro system in Dublin might be operational by 2027 if planning permission is granted

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has said that an underground metro system might be operational in Dublin by 2027, if planning permission is granted.

The project, which has a €3bn price tag, has been unveiled today.

If it goes ahead, the line would run from Sandyford in south Dublin to Swords and Dublin Airport. It would cut the travel time between Dublin city centre and the airport to about 20 minutes.
