A nationwide weather warning is now in effect as strong winds and heavy rain are expected to batter Ireland during the coming hours.
The warning, which came into effect at noon and will remain in place until 7am tomorrow, comes in the wake of Met Eireann’s prediction of wind speeds of up to 110km/h and very heavy rain.
The outlook is for a very unsettled weather period lasting into the weekend.
