Navy officer in charge of nuclear weapons turned up to work still drunk

A Royal Navy Officer responsible for nuclear weapons has been sent back to the UK after turning up to work at his submarine still drunk from the night before.

Sky reports that Len Louw arrived at the HMS Vigilant at its Georgia, US dock still drunk after a night of heavy drinking. The senior Navy man was also carrying a bag of leftover BBQ chicken for his lunch. When his colleagues raised their concerns, he was dismissed from duties and returned to a base in Scotland to face serious investigation.

As the officer in charge of the Vigilant’s weapon, Louw was responsible for the submarine’s nuclear weapons.
