New passport printer would cost upwards of €6m, according to Irish Government

The Irish Government has never shied away from acquiring the most expensive printers known to man, and this time is no exception.

According to sources, a passport printer for Cork would cost upwards of €6m. And around €600,000 a year to run.

Currently, all passports are printed in Dublin, but there have long been calls to install a second printer in Cork to cope with the backlog.
