A new report just published by the most accursed utility in Ireland reveals that a new water source will soon be urgently needed for the country’s Eastern and Midlands regions.

According to Irish Water, water demand in Dublin alone is predicted to increase by more than 50% by the year 2050. Based on current usage figures, it is estimated that an additional 215 million litres of water per day will be needed by then.

The report also highlights that recent water outages in Dublin have leaked more than €78m a day from the economy in recent times.

Another interesting point in the report is that Irish Water claims that ‘Ireland failed to adequately invest in water supply infrastructure for over half a century.’

Irish Water are said to have begun a consultation process on all these issues, the results of which will be known later in the year.
