No backing for the buskers: Dublin City Council pass new ruling that will see buskers being unable to use backing tracks

Life on the streets of Dublin will become a little more harder for Buskers in the near future as they will no longer be able to play backing tracks when they play on the capital’s streets.

The new ruling which will also see singers and musicians being forced to play a repertoire that lasts for at least 30 minutes without repetition, will come into effect on August 1st after Dublin City council passed motion that will halt “repetitive” music of “questionable quality”.

Although councillors, management acknowledged the talent and diversity of the acts that perform in Dublin, they felt the ruling had to be enforced as repetitively loud street performances continued to cause “significant daily problems and discomfort for businesses, residents and members of the public”.
