The new Taoiseach and new Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar has already laid down the groundwork for a number of key priorities.
Mr Varadkar who defeated his main rival Simon Coveney on Friday said his top policy priority would be getting agreement on Brexit.
In a number of new challenges ahead the incoming Taoiseach said he is also committed to holding a referendum on abortion next year.
Mr Varadkar also revealed he has no intention of calling an early election despite calls from opposition TDs, he also said he hold no grudges against his former opponent and is hoping he and Mr Coveney can work together.
