No first-class flights and no absolutely plush hotel suites as ministers warned about St Patrick’s Day trips abroad

Ministers have received a warning to minimise the cost of their St Patrick’s Day travels and to refrain from overspending on first-class tickets, hotel suites, and limos, reports Independent.

When ministers are making travel and hotel arrangements, “all costs should be carefully considered,” according to a cabinet note that was leaked before to the yearly exodus.

It was instructed to senior and junior ministers that “first-class flights should not be used” and “delegations should be kept to a minimum.”

It added: “All personal costs should be paid or refunded as soon as possible,” reports Independent.

Ministers have reportedly been advised not to reserve whole hotel suites or limo services when celebrating St. Patrick’s Day overseas, according to a government source.

If a minister needs to travel a specific distance or has meetings shortly after landing, they are permitted to fly in business class.

Booking business-class flights is also permitted for civil service personnel and senior ministry staff, reports Independent.
