Separate reports of harassment outside Simon Harris’s family home and a bomb threat against the Co Wicklow residence have been looked into by Gardaí.
It has sparked debate about whether Mr. Harris ought to relocate somewhere with more protection.
The position of Taoiseach does not have an official house, but Taoisigh have occasionally utilised Steward’s Lodge on the Farmleigh estate for a variety of purposes, reports Breaking News.
Mr. Harris has stated that he does not intend to move there, nevertheless.
The remarks from Mr. Harris coincide with his debut as the podcast’s first guest for season two, hosted by former RTÉ star Ryan Tubridy.
After it was discovered that the national broadcaster had underreported payments to the former presenter of the Late Late Show, Mr. Tubridy found himself at the focus of a controversy that shook RTE for a whole year, reports Breaking News.
Later, the problem expanded to include additional governance issues, and a decline in TV licence payments was perceived to be caused by the scandal surrounding the station’s financial mismanagement.
It sparked many influential Oireachtas hearings, and the Government altered the organization’s funding arrangements as a result, reports Breaking News.
These days, Mr. Tubridy is the host of a daily show on Virgin Radio in London, which is carried on Q102 as well. His weekly piece for The Irish Daily Mail On Sunday is also written by him.
Mr. Harris described the events at his house as a “form of intimidation and harassment” to the podcast presenter.
“I think it’s done to unsettle and unnerve people, and I think it’s done by people to let you know that they know where you live,” reports Breaking News.
Asked by Mr Tubridy about the possibility for an official Taoiseach’s residence, Mr Harris said: “This has been put to me on occasion. The challenge for me – apart from loving Greystones – is that my kids are of an age where one has just started in the local school, and it would be very disruptive. I don’t know where the future brings us in relation to this but I can see it happening in the future,” reports Breaking News.
