Country music fans will once again be disappointed at the news of Garth Brooks’ conspicuous absence from Irish shores.
There had been persistent rumours that the artist would play a gig in Cork next year, but any hopes have now been quashed after a spokesperson for Brooks said “We know of no such plans on his schedule.”
The rumours had been sparked by comments on radio by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Des Cahill. Perhaps prematurely, he mentioned that talks were underway to bring Garth Brooks to Cork, and that singer Adele may also play a gig there.
However folks, there are no such plans. Brooks fans around Cork will have to hold one of his CDs and sigh while staring longingly at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Some day, perhaps.
