Normal service resumes for Three Ireland customers

Three Ireland has confirmed that technical issues that affected customers yesterday afternoon, have been resolved as of this morning.

Up to 1.5 million customers were affected yesterday when the phone network went down due to an electrical failure at one of the company’s data centres.

The problem led to customers experiencing intermittent 2G and 3G services.

It is believed the problem was fixed at about 2 o’ clock this morning.Three_ie_logo_black

The company’s technical team worked on the issue throughout the night and the official Twitter account for the mobile phone operator announced this morning that the issue had been resolved and thanked customers for their co-operation.

“The issue with service has now been resolved. Thanks for your patience, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

A spokesperson for Three Ireland said that a full investigation into the cause of the disturbance is now underway. They added that no decision has yet been reached as to whether the company will grant compensation to customers that have been affected.

Three, which recently took over O2 in Ireland, has over 2 million customers in the country.
