As the world looks on, the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un appears to be in grave danger health wise after a major surgery.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un is said to be in a ‘grave situation’ after emergency heart surgery.

The supreme leader of North Korea recently missed a big-time military parade, something that would have been unthinkable under normal circumstances. The leader’s conspicuous absence quickly led to speculation about his health.

The size of the 36-year-old man, who is known to be a heavy smoker and enjoy munching on Emmental cheese, has steadily and very visibly ballooned over the last few years. The supreme leader’s chain-smoking ways appears to be a family tradition. Both his father and grandfather were also heavy smokers, in a country where, somewhat incongruously, food for the masses is in short supply, but cigarettes (both international and the local 727 brand) are widely available and cost the equivalent of $0.20 per 20-pack.

In Kim’s case, his indulgence in fat-rich cheese and nicotine that may very well prove to be his downfall, and while rumors circulate that he’s already passed on, these cannot be substantiated.
