Number of houses evacuated in Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious package




A number of houses in Belfast have been evacuated after a suspicious package was discovered this afternoon.

It is understood that area surrounding the house on the Cromwell Road, has been cordoned off as police authorities investigate the incident.

Police are advising motorists to stay clear of the area.

Meanwhile a spokesperson for the PSNI also issued the following statement via Twitter: “The Cromwell Road is closed following a suspicious package found this afternoon.”

“A number of properties have been evacuated and the road has been closed at junction of Wolseley St and Ireton St, junction of Cromwell St and Botanic Ave and junction of Cromwell St & Lawrence St.”
