A nurse in Texas has been convicted of premeditated murder for the deaths of four patients who died after prosecutors said he injected them with air after heart surgery.
The Smith County jury deliberated for about an hour before finding William George Davis of Halsville guilty of premeditated murder of several victims. Prosecutors intend to apply for the death penalty during the sentencing phase that was due to begin on Wednesday but was delayed.
Davis, 37, was accused to inject air into the four patients’ arteries after undergoing heart surgery at Christ Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler in 2017 and 2018. The four patients, John Lafferty, Ronald Clark, Christopher Greenway and Joseph Kalina ā suffered unexplained neurological problems and died soon after.
