Nurses across the country could soon be set to take strike action unless the current staffing and overcrowding crisis is resolved.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) the vat number of senior nurses feel “abused” by the State and will vote on industrial action if bed numbers and services are not reduced in line with available staffing levels.
The nurses union are also looking for the “immediate restoration ” of pay and pensions following cuts severe during the economic crisis.
Speaking about the situation earlier today INMO general secretary Liam Doran, said the ballot would take place in four to five weeks, unless the situation is resolved quickly.
