The controversy surrounding the Oberstown youth detention centre in Dublin continues, with a fourth resident now raising a High Court challenge over allegations of ‘inhumane and degrading’ treatment that he says he was subjected to.
According to the teenager, he has been kept in solitary confinement since August, been provided with just ‘basic’ food , and denied contact with other residents.
A riot broke out at Oberstown last month, and a great deal of damage was done to the facility.
The teenager in question is the fourth resident to bring up a High Court case over alleged mistreatment.
