O’Gorman not happy at the State’s response to report into missing Drogheda boy Kyran Durnin

The Minister of Children expressed his “concerns” on the State’s response to the news of Kyran Durnin, a missing youngster, reports Breaking News.

Following the loss of the Co Louth kid, who may have been absent for two years without anybody knowing, the Gardaí opened a murder inquiry last month.

Investigators believe he may have passed away in 2022 at the age of six.

Investigators searched a former Dundalk family home and surrounding property in late October, reports Breaking News.

Roderic O’Gorman received a report on their interaction with Kyran and his family on Friday from Tusla, the Child and Family Agency.

Mr. O’Gorman stated that because the Garda is still looking into the boy’s alleged death, he was unable to disclose or publish any information about the findings.

Mr O’Gorman said: “From what I’ve seen, there are elements that are of concern in terms of the overall state response. I asked Tusla to undertake their own review and bring forward any proposals or changes that they need to make to their operations, their procedures,” reports Breaking News.

Later this week, Mr. O’Gorman will meet with Tusla CEO Kate Duggan to discuss the proposals and lay out how they would be implemented, he told the RTÉ News At One program.

“This report will also be sent to the National Review Panel,” he added, reports Breaking News.

“I said before, this case shows how the importance of inter-agency co-operation is so important, and how every arm of the state that comes in contact with children where there is some identified vulnerability, need to be working together. What I did earlier this year was set up a new inter-agency committee on vulnerable children to make sure that we have a forum where Tusla can speak to the gardai, can speak to the HSE, can speak to education services,” reports Breaking News. https://www.breakingnews.ie/world/dog-reunited-with-owners-eight-years-after-being-stolen-1690939.html
