Transgender woman, who was born male, Emily Bridges was due to compete against five-time Olympic champion Dame Laura Kenny this weekend but has been told where to go by officials.
It’s understood that Cycling’s international governing body, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), told British officials that under their regulations, Bridges was not eligible to enter the event, presumably because they see her as genetically male and how unfair it is to compete against women.
It’s understood that Bridges was hysterical when the decision was announced claiming that she is a woman too and that it isn’t fair she can’t compete against women.
