One person is dead, and two others are injured following an attack near the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Local police chased the perpetrator, who was known to authorities, and managed to subdue him after he attacked two other people with a hammer. It is understood the attacker had been in prison for violent offences before, and was under surveillance.
He was reportedly heard shouting ‘Allahu Akbar!’ during the incident.
The deceased has been identified as a German tourist.
