There could soon be a significant jobs boost for the Kildare region in the near future as tech company Intel have confirmed that they are looking to expand their Lexlip base in a €7bn investment.
According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, the proposed plans which could see an extra 1,600 jobs will come as part of an investment which would be one of the biggest in the history of the state.
It is understood that the tech giant want to expand by building a brand new 110,000 sq m manufacturing facility on the existing site.
The ambitious plan a total of 1,600 extra staff positions would be created, with 800 of those being full-time positions.
The project will also create in the region of 3,000 construction jobs if plans are approved.
It is understood the ambitious overhaul of the existing campus comes as the company promised to pump extra funding into its facilities in Ireland, America and Israel.
