Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy appears to be taking an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ approach to ‘resolve’ the homeless situation in the capital, as the core idea of his latest scheme is to encourage homeless families to move away from Dublin and settle elsewhere.
The scheme also includes provisions to move people who refuse social housing in their own area twice down to the bottom of the waiting list.
Homelessness remains at an all-time high across the country, with over 10,000 people currently listed as homeless.
What do you think of the minister’s machinations to address the shame of homelessness in Dublin? Let us know in the comments below.
