According to a recent report published by RTE it is understood that top Government Ministers have claimed a total of €27m for pay and expenses since the coallition entered office back in 2011.

The report states that the Taoiseach Enda Kenny is the highest earner within the Dail receiving a staggering €780,000 in pay, expenses and other entitlements since he was elected Taoiseach in 2011.

Meanwhile Mr Kenny is not the only politician to receive a six figure sum whilst in office as other ministers have received pay in excess of €700,000, these apparently include ministers Simon Coveney, Jimmy Deenihan, Leo Varadkar, Phil Hogan, James Reilly, Brendan Howlin, Joan Burton and Eamon Gilmore.

The report also suggested that on average Government ministers received €631,000 in salary and expenses. The scandalous use of taxpayer money didn’t stop there however as the coalition spent a whopping €165,608 on mobile and broadband expenses since they took office, even more ridiculously Government ministers spent a further €75,601 on landline expense which were in their own homes and constituency offices .

It is also believed the Irish taxpayer also spent a staggering €1.6m on travel and fuel expenses for Government TD’s.
