Paid paternity leave to be extended to five weeks from next month




 

 

There was good news for parents and expecting parents as it has been revealed that paid paternity leave will be extended to five weeks from next month.

It is understood that the Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman intends that the extended payment will come into effect from April 1st.

Under the new legislation which was approved by Cabinet at the end of last year, parents will be entitled to €245 paid leave for five weeks.

It is expected that the payment will be backdated for parents who had a child from November 2019.
