Irish twitter users got involved in a debate which Wallace started by tweeting “so terrible for the victims, but when is France going to stop it’s role in the militarisation of the planet?” (sic)

Clare Daly TD, did her usual thing retweeted the comment, describing the attacks in Paris as “tragedy beyond belief” but asking “it’s always the right time to ask why or it will go on”.

Wallace, who is from Wexford, attracted anger across both Twitter and Facebook for his outlandous comment.

One user, Alan Walsh, criticised both Dail deputies for their timing in making the comments.
Fine Gael TD for Galway-East Paul Connaughton weighed in on the debate, writing “@mickwallaceTD perhaps it would be better to hold off on talk of why this happened and hope that no more lives are lost”.

The two TDs, who many believe their abortion and tax polices are ludicrous, have had calls for the French ambassador to request an apology but as one Twitter user said “the real apology will be called for at the polling booth.”
