The number of people who are unable to feed their animals due to the increased cost of living is rising according to a leading animal charity in the UK.
According to Sky News, the Dogs Trust has reported a serious increase in the deeply sad situation where people are forced to choose between feeding their pets and paying their bills.
The charity’s CEO Owen Sharp described speaking to families who were “forced to make impossible choices because of their financial situations”.
It is thought that ongoing lifetime veterinary bills make it difficult or impossible for people to care for their pets, together with the costs of items like toys, beds and insurance.
People are advised to get in touch with animal charities before their situation reaches crisis level.
