Peter Casey is reportedly considering running in the upcoming election with the sole purpose of taking votes away from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, with whom he shares constituency

One of Ireland’s most prominent newcomer politicians in the last number of years, Peter Casey is said to be considering a run in the general election against Leo Varadkar.

62-yr-old Casey has already declared his name for the ballot in Donegal and is said to be genuinely considering running in the Taoiseach’s constituency to try and impact on his vote.

Casey finished second to Michael D Higgins in the 2018 Presidential elections securing a massive 23% of the vote after he made various comments about travellers and the type of houses that they had turned down.
