Phil Hogan issues groveling apology but stops short of quitting his position

EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan has issued a groveling apology, but has stopped short of offering his resignation in the wake of the Clifden golf party debacle.

Mr. Hogan released a ‘fulsome and profound apology’, but has not followed in the footsteps of former Minister for Agriculture Dara Calleary, who resigned from his position after attending the same event.

The recently appointed Taoiseach Micheal Martin has recalled the Dáil to deal with the fallout of the Clifden disaster.
