On his first court appearance in federal court, a pilot accused of threatening to shoot a commercial airline captain for wanting to divert a flight to receive medical assistance for a passenger is scheduled to appear, reports Breaking News.
A grand jury on October 18 indicted former Delta Air Lines pilot Jonathan J. Dunn on charges of tampering with a flight crew in August 2022 when the aircraft was travelling from Atlanta to Salt Lake City.
During a heated disagreement about whether to change course to accommodate a passenger’s medical issue in the cockpit, Dunn, the first officer (or co-pilot), threatened to shoot the captain, reports Breaking News.
According to court filings from the US Attorney’s Office, the captain suggested making a diversion to Grand Junction, Colorado, in the event that the passenger’s condition deteriorated.
