Pilot of the helicopter that crashed in Longford arrested at Dublin Airport

Gardai have arrested the pilot of the Gazelle helicopter that crashed into a Co. Longford pub yesterday evening.

Two men were onboard the helicopter when it crashed into the back of the Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule, Co. Longford. Both men escaped the crash with only minor injuries, but the premises sustained substantial damage. The helicopter ended up resting on its side outside the pub.

Today, Gardai have arrested the helicopter pilot, a man from the UK thought to be in his 60s.

The second man onboard is David Bruton, an aerobatic pilot and owner of an aviation company based about a mile down from the crash site.
