Water safety authorities are urging people to behave safely around bodies of water ahead of the May bank holiday weekend.
In light of the hot weather forecast for the long weekend, the Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland have issued a joint appeal for water safety.
The total number of search and rescue incidents has increased seasonally, with activity levels similar to those of recent years.
Despite the warm weather, the water temperature is said to remain cold and people with varying levels of experience may be affected by the shock of cold water.
