British police have submitted a request for further funding in order to continue the search for Madeleine McCann.
According to Sky News, the latest application was made as officers leading the search say further funding is needed to keep the investigation known as operation Grange going.
Although no official word has been made by the British Home Office, investigatiors are hopeful that they can receive further funding.
Speaking to Sky News, Metropolitan Police chief Cressida Dick, confirmed that an application for further funding has been submitted.
Ms Dick said that investigators are following a number of active lines of inquiry, and she believes that the British public would like to see them continue their investigation.
Madeleine went missing in the tourist resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007, when she was just three years old.
The British Home Office has spent in the region of £12m on the operation which began back in 2011.
