Police confirm that over a 100 people have been injured and almost 300 people have been arrested following violent protests in Paris

Police in Paris have confirmed that over 100 people have been injured and almost 300 people have been arrested following violent protests in the city on Saturday.

The arrests come after protesters became violent and clashed with police at the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood the yellow vest protest which saw in the region of 5,000 protesters descend on the city to voice their disgust at rising taxes, fuel prices, and President Macron’s government.

Police say 110 people were injured following a clash between protesters and security forces.

They also say 300 people have been arrested after police used tear gas, stun grenades and a water cannon in an attempt to halt the rioting.

Meanwhile further arrests have been made after thousands took to the streets across France in what is the third week of protesting.
