Police in the UK are searching for a man wanted in connection with the horrific  attack on a pensioner in London.

According to RTE, the man was seen running from the scene where 87-year-old Thomas O’Halloran was killed.  The attack was entirely unprovoked and has shocked and disgusted the police and members of the public.

Mr. O’Halloran, who was originally from Ennistymon in County Clare, was a well-known figure in the Greenford area of London where he was regularly seen on his mobility scooter or busking with his accordian outside Greenford station.  He was also said to be fundraising for Ukraine.  It was reported that he was on his way to busk when he was attacked and killed.

Police described the suspect as “dangerous”.  He had a knife and was wearing grey shorts, a dark t-shirt with a pair of patterned gloves and white baseball cap.

Mr. O’Halloran was originally from Ennistymon in County Clare.  In the aftermath of his killing, the west Clare town was reeling from the news and offering support to the pensioner’s brothers George and Richard, sister Bridget, and nephews and nieces.

Clare Fianna Fail councillor Shane Talty expressed his sympathy, saying that Mr. O’Halloran was “a native of Ennistymon and kept in contact with his wide circle of relatives of Ennistymon, who are well-known locally and respected.  All the thoughts of the community are with the O’Halloran family at this time.”
