
Ireland’s population could potentially grow by a further 2 million people by 2051 it has been revealed.
According latest figures by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ireland’s overall population is expected to grow by almost 2 million people if the current fertility and migration rates continue.
The statistics which were published today found that Ireland’s current high birth rate combined with a slower death rate will see the country’s population expand the country’s population to 6.7 million people from the current 4.74 million residents.
Although Ireland’s population is expected to surpass 5 million by 2030, the CSO the current trend will the country’s population continue to expand beyond that date.
