The bizarre occurrence which took place in the village of Conna in East Cork has provoked outrage and morbid curiosity with the internet rife with speculation as the meaning and purpose for the placement of the dead rabbits.
Some have suggested it’s just a prank meant to shock and garner media attention while others have stated it’s the work of some occultist group operating in the Cork area.
The slaughter of rabbits has been a feature of Occult and Satanic rituals uncovered by authorities in various places around the world but this one of strangest events in Ireland since several animal hearts were left impaled on spikes at three separate locations around Kilkenny city in 2007.
It is thought that the dead rabbits were placed along the path frequent by young children going to and from school the night before the schools reopened following the May bank holiday. This could suggest that those behind it had intended for the children to see the display.
