It is Christmas and everyone is getting in the festive spirit by buying presents, but it seems the President Michael D Higgins will be getting a present of sorts as the state have spent €200,000 on two brand new cars.
According to The Irish Mirror the cars worth €100,000 were bought as the state decided to update President Higgins personal motorcade which is monitored by the Gardai.
President Higgins will sure have a comfortable traveling experience over the next few years as he will be chauffeured around in two brand new 740 series BMW saloon cars.
The cars which will be housed at Garda headquarters will be used to drive the President around the country on official state business.
