Pro Life Campaign condemn Amnesty for “pushing hard line abortion campaign”

The Pro Life Campaign have condemned Amnesty International’s use of its funding to call for legalising abortion in Ireland.

Amnesty held a press conference this morning outlining that it wants open abortion on demand in Ireland. They have called for the 8th amendment to be removed from the constitution and for all women to have the legal right to have abortion on demand in the country.

Their demands have been met with fierce opposition from the Pro Life Campaign. The PLC suggest that Amesty’s calls for “women’s rights” completely undermine the fundamental human right, the right to life.

Cora Sherlock, deputy Chairperson of the PLC, said that she herself joined Amnesty to champion human rights issues around the world. She said she “was disgusted at the way in which Amnesty is trading on its good man by pushing a hard line abortion campaign”.

She went on to say: “Without the basic right to life, all other rights are meaningless”.
