The Chair of the NPHET Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, Professor Nolan has said the vast majority of Covid-19 cases and hospital admissions are in young unvaccinated and partially vaccinated people.
Speaking about the rise in cases Professor Nolan said that although vaccines are effective they need to be given time to work.
Nolan said that people need to build up their immunity by waiting 7 to 14 days before they can take effect.
He went on to state that there’s a high number of young adults being admitted to ICU who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
Nolan added that there is still 25% of the population not fully vaccinated as some haven’t allowed their immunity to build up.
